Assessment Initiative Team in Afghanistan

The Afghanistan Assessment Initiative, a seven person delegation made up of 5 Afghan and 2 American professionals and funded by a grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, traveled in May 2002 to Aghanistan and gathered the information necessary to specify functional and design requirements for the Afghanistan Retraining Initiative for Self-employment (ARISE). The tasks for the delegation included site surveys and selection, gathering information for curriculum design and project logistics, and establishing connections with appropriate agencies and officials of the Afghan government, international donor organizations, NGOs, and other related activities.
